When I was expecting a sequel to the original years ago back in 2006, I was expecting it to be mostly similar to that wad. This sequel is different since it's more hub related than the original. It's also much harder than the original because the enemies can sometime dodge when they get hit or about to get hit for example. I still played it on hard and managed to beat the whole thing despite me dying hundreds of time and at certain situations requiring a backup save because of how hard it was. If you're going to play Final NeoDoom, I would highly suggest playing this on medium or easy mainly because of the harder enemies. I would suggest keeping your distance when going up against the pistol zombies since they can steal your pistol if they get close enough(they will say "Watch out!" if you lose your pistol). It's one of those wads that's hard to get into because of the first hub mainly, but once you get to the second hub is when things start to actually get better. The first two levels hard reasonable length, then the next two levels felt boring to me because of the design and length so you might get turned off from playing. I guess one my biggest complaints were the pistol zombie because at certain points at the beginning, I would switch back to my fists and not understand why. Others are mostly personal preferences like there's no creative difficulty names, creative quit messages, and the length of a couple of levels. Other than that, this manages to live up to the original with an awesome soundtrack, great architecture with some of the levels looking like real places, and of course the memorable moments that you will encounter at later levels.
There's only a handful of different inventory items and weapons that are available this time around that will help you out on certain situations. Most of the weapons are useful except for a few with one of them being the buzzsaw. The BFG was disappointing because it was only primarily useful for boss monsters and the primary fire isn't as good as the railgun primary fire. Other than that, the arsenal has less useless weapons than the original. The inventory I guess is the same way with the arsenal. Some of the levels for example are neighborhoods, a beach like level, a night town, and a castle for some examples. Personally I recommend playing the entire thing just for the architecture of the later levels. When I got more into it, I wasn't expecting to be addicted to this wad as I was playing it for hours because I wanted to explore all of the levels and find as many secrets as I could. The ending was more of a goodbye from the author since this supposed to be his final wad because of real life obligations.
Overall if you wanted to know which NeoDoom was better, I would go with the first one because it had some awesome weapons, the vixens, porn(even though it didn't need it), a better ending, and was easier to get into to. Regardless of some of my complaints and personal preferences, I still give this wad a 5/5. I just hope that it gets an cacoward, otherwise that's just more proof that the ceremony is a joke.
You can download this wad from his personal website if you are interested at all. You might also want to download the image of the hub system for this wad.
